The institute, since its foundation in 1969, has been involved in coatingsdevelopment and production for many pillar industries, such as architecture,transportation, industry corrosion protection, nuclear power plants, houseappliance, and military equipment, protection of marine environment facilities,completed close to 600 scientific achievements. The institute has received closeto 80 national or provincial science and technology awards, owned 50 inventionpatents and dozens of know hows. In 2003, the Ministry of Science andTechnology established the “National Engineering Research Center for Coatings”in the institute.

In the Institute there sets of a number of national industry serviceand management organizations:

“NationalPaint and Coatings Industry Information Center”;

“Society ofCoatings and Finishing of CIESC”;

These organizations can provide, in all aspects, industry service, suchas publication, conference

and exhibition,technicaln consultance, testing, standardization and analysis, as well asundertake

all the tasksentrusted by government, socity and enterprises.
